Good stuff: Christopher Hitchens

I saw this Christopher Hitchens on the Daily Show and I liked his style. While he is often described as Conservative, he has responded with ”well I have no party affiliation, no ideological one,” and he is not afraid to criticize Bush and the Republicans. Some of my favorite things about this guy”

  1. His stance on religion is similar to mine. He was on the Daily Show plugging his new book, “God is not great: How religion poisons everything” and while I haven’t read the book yet, he raised a lot of good points in the interview. Unfortunately Youtube doesn’t have a clip of that so here is a clip of him ranting on religion:
  2. A profile by the National Public Radio stated: “Hitchens is known for his love of cigarettes and alcohol — and his prodigious literary output.” Hitchens has also written that his daily intake of alcohol was enough “to kill or stun the average mule” and that many great writers “did some of their finest work when blotto, smashed, polluted, shitfaced, squiffy, whiffled, and three sheets to the wind.” Here’s a clip of some good Hitchens moments, including him giving the audience on  the Bill Mahr show the finer:
  3. He served as the Devil’s Advocate during the canonization of Mother Teresa in 2002 which he later describes as “representing the devil pro bono.”
  4. His stance on Bush and the Iraq war, also I enjoy how he continually interupts the interviewer.

Good stuff Christopher Hitchens.
