When I left in the first quarter of 2007, we just had a great year and bonuses were good (well by HSBC standards), however people were nervous about the year ahead. The economy was weakening a bit, credit markets were softening and people were wondering how they would meet revenue targets based off of the great year we just had. I doubt they had any idea how bad it would get… so glad I got out.
