Check out the article Bonuses are gone, Cristal is corked on the Globe and Mail website,
When I left in the first quarter of 2007, we just had a great year and bonuses were good (well by HSBC standards), however people were nervous about the year ahead. The economy was weakening a bit, credit markets were softening and people were wondering how they would meet revenue targets based off of the great year we just had. I doubt they had any idea how bad it would get… so glad I got out.

Anyone else noticed that the last few SNL Digital Shorts have been pretty lame? The Best Look in The World… Laser Cats 3… Daiquiri Girl… I wasn’t a big fan of Grandkids in the Movies either. They seem very forced.
Since we’re on the subject, I’ll give you my top 7 (why 7? Because I’m too lazy to do 10):
7. Roy Rules
6. Hero song
5. Andy’s Dad
4. Natalie Raps
3. Lazy Sunday
2. Iran so Far
1. Business meeting with Rainn Wilson
Many of you are probably noticing the absence of Dick in a Box… it was good the first time I saw it but didn’t have legs.

Def Leppard were on Dancing with the Stars the other day and I was pleasently surprised when they played Pour Some Sugar on Me
Some searches on YouTube resulted in a few other fun Def Leppard videos:

Santa Monica has a really cool comic book store called Hi De Ho Comics on Santa Monica Blvd. This past weekend they had a parking lot sale, which seems to be an annual thing. They brought out boxes and boxes of comics onto their parking lot, and for $20 you get a “small” box, and for $30 you got a big one, and you just go crazy filling your boxes up. I chose the $30 box, and I think walked away with over 150 comics.
I ended up getting almost the complete series of “Alpha Flight”, Canada’s answer to The X-Men (published by Marvel). – obviously not a big seller in the USA. I had never read an issue before, but I needed to fill my box up some how!

Fox Searchlight has some videos of Michael Cera and Jason Bateman chatting about random stuff and promoting their movie Juno. This one is my favorite:

I’m not Scandinavian myself, but my girlfriend is Norwegian so I still get a kick when Scandinavians are used on US TV. I posted a video of a Citigroup commercial using Norwegians, and now AT&T are using a Swede named Sven in a commercial. Favorite line is “Forecast says cold… so bundle up!”… my girlfriend has now adopted that as her own.

Hey anyone who is reading this, happy new year! Below is a cool pic I got from Gizmodo of the firework celebration in Oslo. There isn’t a government funded fireworks show, so everyone just goes crazy in their backyard creating an impressive display. I spent New Year’s eve in Prague one here, and it was much the same thing… actually a bit dangerous as fireworks were going all over the place, and not always up!
